Wheels - Set wheels as far apart as possible without the machine or roll of tape rubbing on the pipe.
Plain Tape - (see diagram)
- Remove TENSION KNOB and LOCKING WING NUT, loosen HANDLE and load desired tape size by latching onto spool. Tape coating should unravel from top of roll placing TENSION KNOB on operator’s left.
- Adjust TENSION KNOB sufficient to elongate the coating. Ideal tension is 5-10 lbs/in-width (2.3-4.5kg/mm-width).
- To wrap, grasp HANDLE and rotate down the pipe by grabbing it by the opposite HANDLE as it comes down.
- Lap size is increased by loosening ADJUSTMENT NUT and moving bolt to higher level in slot placing WINGS in more parallel position. Cigarette wraps should have wings in completely parallel position.
- Lap size is decreased by moving bolt to lower position in slot increasing angle between the wings.
- For double wrapping, either wrap same area twice or adjust lap for half as much travel.
To Apply the Tape -
Hold the end of the tape away from the pipe surface, set the machine on the pipe, make sure all four wheels are touching the pipe, carefully lay the tape on the pipe surface smooth and straight and press it down. Then pull the machine in the direction as shown in the appropriate diagram, by the handle, around the pipe.
